Scope and Content Borrodale House situated near Loch nan Uamh to the east of Arisaig. The original house was burned by Government troops in 1746. Pictured here is the easterly 19th century farm house and steading, rebuilt to the same original plan. Prince Charles Edward Stuart landed near Borrodale House on 25th July 1745 and stayed for a week before moving to Kinlochmoidart. It was also from Borrodale that the Prince and a party of his men, including MacDonald members of Clan Ranald, fled on 26 April 1746 after Culloden. He returned to Borrodale for a few days in July, before fleeing north where he stayed until he came back to make his final escape from there back to France on 20th September.
