Scope and Content Duddingston House was built in the 1760s by Sir William Chambers. During the 1745 Jacobite Rebellion, Bonnie Prince Charlie's cavalry camped in the park nearby before the Battle of Prestonpans. A tavern once stood on The Causeway at Duddingston, an early 18th-century building, where the Prince may have held council before the Battle of Prestonpans in 1745.
