Scope and Content Images of practice day prior to the 2013 Open Championship at Muirfield in Gullane, East Lothian, taken by Cairns Aitken. Bubba Watson, Brendan Jones, Charl Schwartzel and Bernd Wiesberger are among the golfers featured in a variety of shots, teeing off, driving, putting, and getting caught in Muirfield's many sandtraps. The golf course called Muirfield is a privately owned links which is the home of The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers. It is located in Gullane, East Lothian, Scotland, overlooking the Firth of Forth. It is one of the golf courses used in rotation for The Open Championship. Muirfield has also hosted The Amateur Championship, the Ryder Cup in 1973, the 1959 and 1979 Walker Cups, the 1952 and 1984 Curtis Cups, and many other important tournaments. It was the venue for the 2013 Open Championship, won by Phil Mickelson. The images in this project, by photographer Cairns Aitken, were taken on one of the Practice Days that preceded the tournament.
