Scope and Content The Museum of Islamic Art houses a large number of artefacts from three continents, with a particular emphasis on Arabic artefacts. It aims to reflect the full vitality, complexity, and diversity of the arts of the Islamic world. It preserves, studies, and exhibits Islamic masterpieces from the 7th to the 19th centuries, and houses a library and study centre as well as exhibition space. Designed by I.M. Pei, the building contains a number of Islamic patterns, and is sited on its own island in Doha harbour, so as not to encroach on other buildings.
