Scope and Content Mercat Cross, Marketgate, Crail, Fife The Mercat Cross has only one original section - the 17th-century shaft. It was re-erected in its current location with a unicorn finial for Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee in 1887 The granite base was added for her 1897 Diamond Jubilee. Behind the cross, to its right, is the 16th-century tower of the Tolbooth. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
