Scope and Content Gymnasium inside Carnegie Centre, Dunfermline, Fife The Carnegie Centre was built in 1901-5 by Hippolyte J Blanc of Edinburgh as a sports centre and swimming pool. It was modified and extended by James Parr and Partners in 1979-84. A cast iron roof structure, similar to those of factories of the same period, creates a wide, uninterrupted floor-space.
