Scope and Content Prison-wing of Rothesay Town Hall and County Buildings, Argyll and Bute Rothesay Town Hall and County Buildings, built on the site of two earlier tolbooths, was one of the improvements contained in an 1831 Act of Parliament. The clock was made in London in 1834 and donated by the 2nd Marquis of Bute. The prison-wing still has barred windows. It was closed in 1883. This resulted in extensive alterations to the building.
