Scope and Content Mercat Cross, Cupar, Fife Cupar Mercat Cross was erected in 1897 at the junction of St Catherine Street and Crossgate. The base and top, including the unicorn, date from this time. The shaft, dated 1683, comes from an earlier cross taken from Cupar to Hill of Tarvit in 1817. The domed building (right) is the early 19th-century town hall. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
