Scope and Content St John's Church of Scotland, Bonnygate, Cupar, Fife St John's Church of Scotland, originally Cupar Free Church, was designed and built in 1875-8 by Campbell Douglas and Sellars. The masonry is snecked rubble. This means that it is made up of roughly-dressed stones with the levels or courses broken up by smaller stones. The Free Church of Scotland was formed after the 1843 Disruption when ministers and congregations who disagreed with State interference in religion broke away from the Church of Scotland.
