Scope and Content 19th century view of entrance to inner harbour, Pittenweem Harbour, Pittenweem, Fife Pittenweem Harbour was begun after 1541 to replace the earlier Boat Haven as the base for an expanding fishing fleet. Its piers have been rebuilt, repaired and extended at various times because of storm damage, and to meet the changing needs of the burgh. This 19th-century view shows the entrance to the inner harbour. In the foreground is the head of the west pier which was rebuilt in 1822. At the other side of the entrance (right) is the head of the much-repaired 17tth-century east pier. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
