Scope and Content South extension of east-west block of Castle Leod, near Strathpeffer, Highland Castle Leod was probably rebuilt after 1608 - the year Roderick Mackenzie received the estate from his brother - and enlarged a few years later. It fell into disuse in the 18th century and was restored, altered and extended in the 19th century. This is the 17th-century south extension of the original east-west block of the L-plan tower. Inside, a scale-and-platt staircase leads to the left. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
