Scope and Content Interior of the former Gaelic Church, Church Street, Inverness, Highland The Gaelic Church was built in 1792-4 by Hugh Stuter, mason, and William MacDonald, wright. The front wall was rebuilt in 1822 to specifications by James Smith. The building in question was once Greyfriars Free Church, but for many years has been occupied by Charles Leakey's Bookshop, said to be the largest second-hand bookshop in Scotland The interior was recast in 1885-6 by Matthews and Lawrie, architects.
