Scope and Content This is a wide view of the development on the B9006, to the east of Inverness city centre. The B9006 runs up the centre of the photo and curves to the right. On its left are Muckovie and Inshes Wood, and Cradlehall and Castlehill are on the right. Simpson's Garden Centre is towards top right and the Inshes Retail Park and housing development is at the top of the photo. Castlehill House can just be seen among the trees below the garden centre. Simpson's Garden Centre was established in Beauly in the 1930s, but moved to the Victorian Market in Inverness in 2001 before relocating to its present position. The Inshes Retail Park was developed in the late 1990s. Castlehill House is said to have been fortified in ancient times, but the oldest part of the present building is late C18/early C19. Excavation ahead of development in 2000 at Muckovie and Castlehill found some prehistoric remains. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
