Scope and Content Mundole was the site of WW2 Forres Airfield, a satellite of RAF Kinloss from 1940-44, which subsequently housed prisoners of war and displaced personnel of the Polish Free Army. The image shows an airstrip which was used privately in the 1960s and 70s, and one of the "frying pan" dispersal sites [information from www.forgottenairfields.com]. The site of a medieval tower house is near the farm in centre of image (no remains visible in photo). A bronze age cist is recorded from the wooded strip on the west bank of the Findhorn at centre right edge of image. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
