Scope and Content This is a close view of the area on the west side of the River Ness at the Ness Bridge. Among many significant sites are River House, the Inland Revenue Office and Jobcentre, and the new hotel on the site of the Palace Cinema and Bingo Hall. The Ness Bridge is the main crossing and replaced the earlier suspension bridge in 1961. At top left is the sixties Bridge Street development which includes Inverness Museum. The site of Queen Mary's House is on the north side of Bridge Street. The castle is going out of view at top of picture.
