Scope and Content A large ring ditch is visible on this photo with more ephemeral lines showing more clearly on earlier APS and overlain by broad rig furrows. This site named as Gilchrist on both HERs was partially excavated in 2018 by the Tarradale through Time project and named as Balvattie. The site lies just N of Bellevue Cottages. To the left of the cultivated area is a large area of wetland, formerly a kettlehole and described as 'Moss' on Aitken's Estate Plan of 1788.
