Scope and Content A large ring ditch is visible on this photo with more ephemeral lines showing more clearly on earlier APS and overlain by broad rig furrows. This site named as Gilchrist on both HERs was partially excavated in 2018 by the Tarradale through Time project, and named as Balvattiet. To the right of the cultivated area is a large area of wetland, formerly a kettlehole and described as 'Moss' on Aitken's Estate Plan of 1788. The linear cropmark running diagonally across the top of the picture marks the line of a modern drain. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
