Scope and Content Cromarty House was built in 1772 to replace the mediaeval Castle. The Stables, to the right of the house, have been restored and used for community activities. The C15 castle was situated below the house and the outline of the walled garden can be seen below the house and near the shoreline. Reed's Field, to the left of Cromarty House, was the focus of an excavation from 2013-2016 as part of the Cromarty Mediaeval Burgh Project and C12 remains of the original village were uncovered.
