Scope and Content This is a view of housing in the western area of Invergordon. The golf course is at centre left. It was laid out in the grounds of Invergordon's former castle. The nine hole course was extended to eighteen holes in 1996. The C13 Invergordon Castle was originally called Inverbreakie Castle but was replaced in 1872 by a mansion house which was demolished in 1928. The former site of the Hilton of Cadboll stone is on one of the fairways, but it was taken first to the British Museum and then to the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland. The site of a WW2 Polish army camp is in the fields above the houses. Invergordon Mains Farm is right of centre. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
