Scope and Content This is a view of Castle Stuart Golf Links, which was opened in 2009. Castle Stuart can be seen on the far left of the picture. It's essentially a C17 tower house and was given to James Stewart, Earl of Moray, by Mary Queen of Scots, though the property had initially been held by the Mackintoshes. It was abandoned c. 1835, but restored in the late 1970s and now provides luxury accommodation to visitors. Petty Old Parish Church is behind Castle Stuart, among the trees, and beside it is the manse. Petty Church was built in 1839 but there has been a church on this site since at least 1769. It is now no longer used and is classified as a building at risk. Balnaglack Farm is just coming into view on the right of picture. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
