Description Aerial view of Heights of Brae hut circle and rig cultivation, near Dingwall, Easter Ross, looking NNE.

Date 22/1/2010

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number DP 341919

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content This hut circle at NH51338 61344 is possibly Hut A recorded by NKB OS Field Investigator in 1965 and was also identified as the hut at NH5134 6133 in Cathy Dagg's 2005 survey EHG1323. A 2015 aerial photo of it appears on the Canmore record 12941. It appears to lie within a small rectangular enclosure cut on its E side by a modern track leading up the hill. The remains of broad rig cultivation are visible running NW/SE and within a banked enclosure. Narrow rigs are visible also on the E side of the trach but may be the result of more recent ploughing. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
