Scope and Content A wide view of the former WW2 Royal Naval Airfield showing the runways and perimeter road. Just inside the perimeter road in the lower right an irregularly shaped area of rough grass stands out against the ploughed field. In its top left is the listed Control Tower, and across the road to the right the remains of hangars, Nissan huts, air raid shelters, the battlefield HQ and other buildings. The bomb store is located in the upper centre of the image beyond the perimeter road within a discreet area of trees and rough ground. In the far left and also outside the perimeter road at the bottom of the photograph and to the right are a number of sites with the ruins of hangars, Nissan huts, air raid shelters. the generator house etc. Beyond the airfield in the upper right is the village of Fearn and below it in an area of trees and farm outbuildings are the remains of the medieval Premonstratensian Abbey of Fearn.
