Scope and Content This view shows the approach of the Main A9 dual carriageway towards the Kessock Bridge and Inverness. The road crosses the south part of the Black Isle, Ord Hill (Canmore ID 13389) can be seen on the left, the villages of Charleston and North Kessock with its old ferry pier (Canmore ID 13336) are at the centre of the view and Coille Cnoc Na H-Eireachd which has several prehistoric sites (Canmore ID 13469 and 13466) is in the foreground. Recent excavations at Charlestown identified an iron age settlement (Canmore ID 145866) and a prehistoric palisaded enclosure (Canmore ID 109207).
