Scope and Content Kirkney is one of a group of slate quarries in this area, south of the Glens of Foudland. This small disused quarry is situated at a height of about 375m OD on the E flank of Kirkney Hill; it now lies within a Forestry Commission conifer plantation, but both the pit and its spoil-tip downslope to the E, are largely free of any tree-cover. The quarry is depicted on both the 1st and 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch map. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
