Scope and Content This is a general view of Inverness showing the centre of the city with the Longman industrial estate, South Kessock and Merkinch, and Clachnaharry, Scorguie and Muirtown. The Cameron Barracks can be seen at the bottom of the photo and behind is Millburn Academy. The Station, built in 1855, South Kessock Pier, the Muirtown Basin and sea lock with associated Canal buildings at Clachnaharry, and the Muirtown Nature Reserve on the coast between the pier and the sea lock, can all be identified in this photo. At mid-left we can just see the Castle and, above, the Inverness High School. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
