Scope and Content Eathie Burn is a burn flowing S into the Moray Firth on the S side of the tip of the Black Isle. Here it is shown flowing through a steep wooded gully. In the trees on the R (W) of the gully is the site of Castledownie, a castle, traces of which remained in 1871, and of which nothing is known. It occupied a very strong position, defended naturally on the N and E, and by an earthen rampart on the S and W. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
