Aerial view of Strathcathro Roman Camp cropmark of SW and SE gates, Brechin, Angus, looking North.

SC 1970212

Description Aerial view of Strathcathro Roman Camp cropmark of SW and SE gates, Brechin, Angus, looking North.

Date 8/1979

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 1970212

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content This image shows a cropmark record of Strathcathro Roman camp showing the entrances on the SW and SE sides of this camp. Note that Aberdeen Council's HER NO66NW0087 (three crescentic rings outside the E entrance) as Canmore 35979 is wrongly located. The linear cropmarks in the fields with the two gates are possibly the lines of field drains rather than remnant rig furrows. Stracathro Primary School is also visible. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
