Aerial view of Sutton Walls Iron Age fort, near Hereford, looking W.

SC 1970154

Description Aerial view of Sutton Walls Iron Age fort, near Hereford, looking W.

Date 8/1973

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 1970154

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content This 1973 image shows the extensive Iron Age fort of Sutton Walls north of Hereford. It is not clear from the image what the disturbance within the western end of the fort represents. It was excavated in 1973 and 1999, although the amount of disturbance seems too great for just an archaeological excavation. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
