Scope and Content Skibo Castle was originally built as a residence of the medieval Bishops of Dornoch. Nothing now remains of any of the earlier buildings, the present house and gardens having been built and laid out after Andrew Carnegie purchased the estate in 1895. Loch Ospidale was created at the same time by creating a dam and sluices across the mouth of the Allt Garbh to create a fishing loch. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
