Scope and Content The Cromarty Bridge opened in 1979, providing a more direct route north for the upgraded A9, thereby bypassing Dingwall which is in the distance at top of picture. Foulis Point is at bottom of picture. The girnal on this (Storehouse of Foulis) site dates to the C18 and was in use into the C20. Known locally as Foulis Ferry, it has recently operated as a restaurant, a farm shop and Munro family museum. A new building has been added and it now (2021) operates as a shop and restaurant. It is also marketed as a place where visitors can watch the seals and bird life of the Cromarty Firth. In the bay above it there is a fish trap and a landing point. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
