Scope and Content The Meikle Ferry provided a pedestrian crossing of the Dornoch Firth before the bridge was built at Bonar. In 1809 an overloaded ferry capsized with the loss of 99 lives, this accident leading eventually to the building of the Bonar Bridge. This view shows the C19 piers and the Ferrykeeper's cottage as well as some WWII remains. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
