Scope and Content This is a view of the Aviemore Centre which was opened in the village in 1966 to exploit the winter sports opportunities of Cairngorm. The original centre included hotels, a cinema, ice rink, swimming pool and Santa Claus Land. By the 1980s the whole facility was becoming degraded and the ice rink, swimming pool and cinema closed. In the 1990s and the early years of the C21 the area was cleared and new facilities were built. Aviemore Station is at top centre of picture.
