Scope and Content Craig Dunain, the former Inverness-shire mental hospital is in the foreground, with the Beauly Firth in the background. The hospital, originally known as the Northern Counties District Lunatic Asylum, was designed by James Matthews and opened in 1864, with later additions, including a new chapel (1965). it was closed in 2000. To the right is the works department and chimney stack. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
