Scope and Content In the foreground right is Invergordon Aluminium Works Jetty, Saltburn Pier, built to transport materials to and from Invergordon Aluminium Smelter, which closed in 1981. Further away, the next pier is Invergordon Royal Naval dockyard East pier or Admiralty pier, constructed early in WW1 and still in use. On the shore to the right is Invergordon and the harbour and the WW1 fuel tanks of the Royal Navy Port Fuel Depot. Several oil rigs are moored in the Moray Firth.
