Scope and Content Helmsdale town is a C19 planned fishing village based on an earlier settlement, with its original and later harbours and two bridges across the River Helmsdale. The C15 towerhouse Castle of Helmsdale lay on the S bank of the river and was demolished in 1970. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
