Scope and Content Beauly Priory in the centre was founded in circa 1230 by one of the Bisset family, one of only three Valliscaulian monasteries in Scotland. It later came under the protection of the Frasers of Lovat. In 1510 it passed to the Cistercian order, and was then destroyed during the Scottish Reformation. It is now roofless. There are gravestones and memorials within the building and in the cemetery surrounding it. Above right of the Priory, is the former Catholic School. Top left in the square is the memorial to the Lovat Scouts army corps, erected by contribution from Lovat tenants and feuars in 1905.
