SC 1944417

Description Aerial view of Nesscastle Mill area, River Ness, Inverness, looking SW.

Date 21/8/1999

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 1944417

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content The River Ness runs diagonally through the centre of the image, with the Caledonian Canal above and to the R. There are the remains of an old weir running diagonally across the river, curiously not shown on modern OS maps. To its L, in the corner of the green field, can be seen the car park for Weir Fishing Lodge, a modern building on the site of Nesscastle Corn Mill, shown on 1st edition OS. The line of trees running to it represent the line of the lade that fed the mill. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
