Scope and Content Kytra Lock is situated to the SW of Fort Augustus on the Caledonian Canal. The lock-keepers' cottages are now used as holiday lets (2021). In 2019 the lock gates were replaced at both Kytra and Fort Augustus, that section of the canal being drained to allow the work to be undertaken.
