SC 1906915
Description Oblique aerial view of Muirton, Black Isle, looking S.
Date 2000
Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland
Catalogue Number SC 1906915
Category On-line Digital Images
Scope and Content The area of archaeological interest in this view is at centre right of the image, where the field in front of the long straight plantation is largely occupied by the Glenurquhart / Whitebog Wood field system, described as "poorly preserved". Clearance cairns (recorded by Canmore as "Peddieston") are visible in the far left corner of the field on enlargement. A Neolithic long cairn is located in this field at the extreme right edge of the photo but cannot be discerned in this particular image. In the lower right sector of the image is the site of a farmstead, on finger of rough ground to right of existing farm buildings at Muirton. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
