Scope and Content This double-track viaduct, built on a curve, is the longest masonry railway viaduct in Scotland. It was designed by Murdoch Paterson for the Highland Railway across the River Nairn; it opened on 1st November 1898 and remains in use today (2020). It is approached by massive embankments on both N and S sides. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
