Scope and Content This is a view of Culloden House & policies. Culloden House was the home of the Forbes family and built in 1776 on the site of an earlier building, remains of which can be seen in the cellar of the present house. It became a hotel in 1976. Just below centre is the stables which have been converted into housing and the Doocot is beside it. The Barn Church, at bottom left, is a former C18 tithe barn, which was used for worship and converted into a church in the late 1970s. When a new church was built alongside the Barn, it became a church hall. The ice house is in the green area just above centre right. The walled garden and home farm are just coming into view on the left of picture. Culloden Academy is at top of picture. Culloden Academy was established in 1978 and operated from Millburn Academy in Inverness for 4 years till this building was ready for occupation. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
