Scope and Content The QE2 cruise liner is seen berthed at the end of the 1km long Saltburn pier at Invergordon. The pier facilitated the movement of raw materials to and from the now demolished Invergordon Aluminium Smelter which closed in 1981. Invergordon harbour is in the foreground and the east pier or Admiralty Pier. During the First World War this was the deepwater pier. There are numerous references to the Royal Navy WW1 installations. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
