Scope and Content This view of east Inverness focuses on Raigmore Hospital which opened in 1941. In 1962 plans for a new general hospital to serve Inverness were put in place and Phase 1 incorporating the Outpatients Department, laboratories, pharmacy and records, was completed in 1971. Phase 2 was opened in 1985, providing wards to replace the old blocks. Beechwood Business Park, still under development when this picture was taken, is at the bottom of the picture. The Raigmore housing estate is at centre right and the Longman Industrial estate is towards centre top. The A9 snakes round the outskirts of the city towards the Kessock Bridge which was opened in 1982. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
