Scope and Content Buckie's Cluny Harbour dates from c. 1880. Scotland's first large concrete harbour, it caters for fishing, general cargo and leisure interests. Boatbuilding and repair accounts for the large shed and slipways at the left end of the harbour. The long narrow shed near the harbour mouth is the fish market. The white column on top of the coastal slope beyond is one of the leading lights for the harbour. At top edge of image is the separate settlement of Rathven. Features (not readily seen on image) include the Old Burial Ground with its surviving 16th-C aisle of the 13th-C St Peter's Church. The present 18th-C parish church is nearby. A Bede House, demolished in 1886, had been in existence since the 13th-C. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
