Scope and Content Lochinver is a fishing village laid out c. 1810. The green area towards the right is the Highland Games venue and beside it is the Culag Hotel, built in 1873 as a shooting lodge for the Duke of Sutherland. It was converted to a hotel in 1880 and restored in 1939. The Culag Pier and fishing station, which was established in 1775, is beside the hotel. Inver Lodge Hotel is above the row of houses across the centre of the photo. Baddidarach is on the left. This is a historic township, though most of the buildings there today are modern. Lochinver was one of the communities surveyed for the Assynt's Hidden Lives Project. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
