Scope and Content Lochinver is a fishing village laid out c1810. The green area towards the centre of the photo is the Highland Games venue and below that is the Culag Hotel, built in 1873 as a shooting lodge for the Duke of Sutherland. It was converted to a hotel in 1880 and restored in 1939. The Culag Pier and fishing station, which was established in 1775, is beside the hotel. Lochinver was one of the communities surveyed for Assynt's Hidden Lives Project. Inver Lodge Hotel is above the row of houses on the left and the peaks of Canisp and Suilven (on R) are in the distance. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
