Scope and Content This is a very atmospheric view of Loch Dochfour and Loch Ness. Bona Lighthouse is situated at the point where Loch Dochfour joins Loch Ness and was developed from a Telford building. It has been converted into holiday accommodation. Below it at the point where the Abban Water is separated from Loch Dochfour there is the site of a possible C14 keep called Castle Spirital. Aldourie Castle is on the left hand side of Loch Ness, among the trees below Tor Point. Aldourie was first recorded as a laird's house in 1626 and is now the only habitable castle on Loch Ness. It's a modern sporting estate and hired out to private parties. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
