Scope and Content This view shows, at the centre, Culloden House (Canmore ID 14206) now a hotel surrounded by several new housing estates. Culloden House has many associated features of archaeological interest, of particular note is the doocot (Canmore ID 104306) on the right edge of the view, an ice house (Canmore ID 228939 ) on the upper side of the road junction in the top left quadrant of the view, and stables (Canmore ID 101172), the building with the semi-circular enclosure also on the right edge of the view. Bonnie Prince Charlie stayed at Old Culloden House (Canmore ID 104586) the night before the Battle of Culloden Muir in 1746. The site of the Old House is in the trees 200m to the W (left in the view) of the present Culloden House built in 1780 by Arthur Forbes of Culloden.
