Scope and Content Temporary camp at Fourmerkland, Dumfries and Galloway This Roman temporary camp is at Fourmerkland and was built on the flat summit of a hill. The River Nith is to the S and marshy ground to the N and E. There are no surface remains of the camp and the site is usually under crops. The camp can be seen as a cropmark in the centre of this aerial view of the site. One entrance can be seen on the right (W) side of the camp. A prehistoric ring-ditch can be seen inside the camp.
