Scope and Content Written on the back of the mounted print: ‘Shire: Fife. Place: Falkland. Building: Cameron House’. Photographer: ‘JP’ Date: ‘9.5.58’ Entrance, Cameron House, High Street, Falkland, Fife Cameron House was built in the early 17th century. Its name commemorates Richard Cameron, a Covenanting preacher killed at the Battle of Airds Moss in 1680, who is said to have been born in the house. At the time of this picture, the house was still thatched. However, the original masonry is disguised behind a layer of decorative plaster made to look like regular stonework or ashlar.
